With You Through The Waters

Isaiah 43:2 – When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. (NKJV)

Here, as God speaks to His people through the prophet Isaiah, the words He uses would have been especially comforting. The imagery evokes images of God’s deliverance of the Israelites from their slavery in Egypt as they miraculously passed through the Red Sea. What God is telling them, and us, is that when we go through difficulty, He will be with us. Through all circumstances, His hand will be upon us. No matter how difficult or how scared we may be, we can rest in the knowledge that God is with His people. In the person of His Son, Jesus Christ, God walked among us. He suffered with us and for us. Through His death, He has made possible our salvation through faith in His name. We must remember this, especially during the hard times. We must remember that, not only is God with us, but that someday we will be with Him in heaven. Let this truth give you hope and comfort as you continue to trust in Him.
